Only 6 km from Maastricht is Eurotel Lanaken: centrally located between the bustling city centre of Maastricht and the beautiful nature of National Park Hoge Kempen (gateway to Pietersheim). The hotel is close to Pietersheim and is therefore ideally situated as a starting point for a brisk cycling or walking tour.
Cross-border cycling to Maastricht (6 km), the tri-border point, the Voerstreek & even to Aachen is possible from the hotel. Cycle along the water castle of Pietersheim, through the most beautiful village in Flanders or cycle 'through the water' in Bokrijk (junction 91).

Walking Wonderland. Lanaken has a varied and rich natural offer where hikers will find what they are looking for.
Domein Pietersheim is one of the gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park. The domain is one of the most important departure points for numerous signposted walking routes. In the Hoge Kempen National Park there are a total of 4 departure points for 8 routes on our territory.
The Pietersheim walking area will be completely renewed in 2016, resulting in a walking network of 8 loop routes. Two walks have received - after a strict inspection - the "Premium Route" hiking label from the renowned "Deutsches Wanderinstitut". This is a first in Belgium!
Another beautiful walking area is Rivierpark Maasvallei with nature reserves 'Oude Weerd' and Hochter Bampd' on our territory. For the shortest legs there is the gnome walk that starts at the petting zoo. Squirrel Kwip is the host. There are beautiful hiking maps for sale.

Terhills Cablepark
Terhills Cablepark is famous for waterskiing and wakeboarding, which is suitable for young and old. You are connected to an electrically driven cable, where you can be pulled over the water along with other people. Cable water skiing is similar to snow skiing in the way that you glide over the surface. Wakeboarding is very popular with younger people because of all the tricks and stunts they can do thanks to the obstacles in the water. Additionally, Terhills Cablepark has three cables, one is suitable for beginners.

Barefoot path
You don't need shoes on the first barefoot path of Flanders in Zutendaal. The surface of wood, stones, tree chips, grass, clay and water gives you a special feeling. For two kilometers a barefoot stimulation of senses, a special experience.

Bilzen Mysteries is located at The Grand Commandery Alden Biesen. You can discover this brand new attraction after sundown.With a tablet in your hand and headphones on your ears, you make an unprecedented multimedia journey through 800 years of history of the Teutonic Order.
From the Brethren Knights on crusade, over dancing nymphs in the romantic Temple of Minerva, to a devastating fire... Immerse yourself in the enchanting scenery of Alden Biesen and a fascinating story based on true events.
A virtual guide will show you the way. This guide is the Lord Biesen (interpreted by famous actor Jan Decleir). Duration of the attraction: aprox. 70 minutes.

C-mine
The renovated mine buildings today are home to designers and artists such as ceramic artist Piet Stockmans, the design and fashion academy, but also trendy eateries and the Euroscoop. You can also visit the C-mine expedition. A unique (interactive) experience course in the Winterslag mine buildings through underground corridors and ending on the 60-meter-high shaft with a phenomenal view of the region.

From the hotel you walk in the nearby National Park Hoge Kempen by entering throug your favourite and nearest entrance gate. There are plenty of activities and you can enjoy a surprising landscape of 'mountains and lakes' with high peaks and spectacular panoramas.

Land Commandery Alden Biesen
The castle from Alden Biesen was formerly the (landcommanderij) possibly “Regional Center” for Rijkhoven (Bilzen). Today the castle with it’s rose garden is a must see for the public. You can enjoy a beautiful walk through the grounds.

Open Air Museum Bokrijk & the Sixties
The Bokrijk Open Air Museum takes you back to the past. For example to the square where the church bells are ringing, the pastor practices his thunder speech, the mushroom patrols and the farmer and peasant woman work on the farm. You are introduced to long-forgotten Flemish crafts. Did you experience the 60's and do you miss them? Or did you miss this period and would you like to experience it? In Bokrijk, 'the Sixties' comes back to life in a brand new museum area!

Oud-Rekem: the title 'most beautiful village in Flanders' says that a visit is more than worth it. The completely restored St. Peter's Church (museum), water castle d 'Aspremont-Lynden, Drossaerdhuis and the Ucover Gate are just a few examples from the historical richness of Rekem.
